Waterspout

The storm system that passed by created a waterspout off Antigua.

My camera was not the greatest, but within the square you can see the waterspout if you look carefully. It looked much more impressive from the beach!

A waterspout is an intense columnar vortex (usually appearing as a funnel-shaped cloud) that occurs over a body of water and is connected to a cumuliform cloud. In the common form, it is a nonsupercell tornado over water, and brings the water upward. Also, it is weaker than most of its land counterparts.

While I was in Antigua last year during winter break, I was fortunate enough to spot a waterspout that had developed very close to a small island, just across from were I was staying in Jolly Harbour, Antigua. It only lasted for a minute, but it was quite amazing to see.
